The Food Club

Hi again Lovely Divas!

So this is a late post.  Last March 31, we celebrated Jellybean's aunt's birthday.  We have been scouting for a nice buffet resto since we have big appetites.  Since we have tried Yakimix, Dad's/Kamayan/Saisaki, Tong Yang, Sambokojin and Vikings, we have decided to try out other buffet restos out there.  Good thing there's a new "club" in town and after reading reviews online, we made a reservation.

The Food Club is located at Bluebay Walk, Pasay City.  They had a birthday promo when we made the reservation, birthday celebrant gets a free meal, just present a valid ID.  Attire is smart casual as it exudes a hotel vibe, very classy. When we went there, we just stated our reservations and we were seated immediately.

I love the bubble chandeliers and comfy seats, very classy and hotel-like interiors.  The place can seat a lot, my estimate would be around 200(?), but it is very spacious so it doesn't feel like its cramped at all.

Now on to the food.  I will just let the pictures do the talking. Oh and by the way, taking pictures from the buffet is prohibited, you have to ask permission first. I gave them my blogger card and they allowed me to take pictures.

Crustacean Section - very fresh and you can opt to have it cooked to your liking (buttered, with garlic, sweet chili, cheesy pesto, etc.).  They have shrimps, crabs, oysters and mussels.  I also learned that they serve lobster on weekends.

Tempura Section - You see I love tempuras, but their station made me sad as it was a bit messy and took quite a while for them to refill it.  They could also improve on the presentation, but taste wise, it is just okay.

Chinese dishes

Cheese and bread

For dessert . . .

Candies and choco fountain

Native sticky cakes

Drinks, fruit shakes (papaya, melon, watermelon, pineapple - everything so yummy)

And here's what I had:

Miso soup and tempura

Roast beef/macaroni/steamed veggies and potato

They sang happy birthday song to our Aunt and gave complimentary cake, which you can take away after.

She also had wine

Overall, the quality of the food is good especially the seafood and sashimi.  I haven't tried their other dishes and will definitely come back also for the lobster (weekends only).  Service is excellent as the staff were attentive.  They even assisted our tita (who's a senior citizen by the way), often asking her what she want and they would get it for her, talk about being queen for a day.  Price - For weekdays, 800+ for lunch and 1000+ pesos for dinner.  Weekends, 1188+ for lunch and dinner.  When we went there, aside from the birthday celebrant promo, they also had 20% off, what a steal!  We would definitely go back!

I also want to show how classy the ambiance is, even their restroom is well maintained and very relaxing and clean.

Have a nice day everyone!  Remember, God is good all the time :)

Ever Bilena Matte Lipsticks

Hello Darling Divas! I have been away for a long, long, long time.  I have been feeling "blah" for the last couple of months.  I hated everything about me, my weight, my skin, my hair, the weather.  Not even shopping can cheer me up.  I was just feeling so down.  I prayed a lot and thank God for family and friends who never fail to check on me and talk to me. Anyhoo, I'm feeling better now.  I have a couple of posts that should have been posted way, way back.  I promise I will post more soon.

I might have told you in my past posts that I am extremely loyal, right? For most of my life, when it comes to lipsticks, my lips have a love affair with Clinique lipsticks. I don't want to sound like a snob.  It's just that I have been hooked to it since my mom and sister swear by it and give them to me as gifts always so I never run out of stock.  Sure, my mom and sister would send over other brands, but my lips would still long for good old Clinique.  I rarely buy lipsticks with my own money and when I do, I often times regret the purchase, the reasons include the following - poor color pay off, nasty scent, causes lip darkening, allergies, etc. etc.

That is until I have tried Ever Bilena Matte Lipsticks.

I have read a lot of good reviews, a lot of recommendations from Pinay Beauty Gurus, used by many local magicians  makeup artists, but I was always putting it off until I said to myself its time to plunge in and try other products out there, starting off with local brands.

Yep, reasonably priced at 165 pesos at Watson's and local make-up counters.

I got Pink Flame and Siennas.

Starting off with Siennas -

It is an amazing red-brown color, something that is not an "in your face" red color, more of a my lips but better shade. Very safe, no fail shade that I think would match morenas and fair-skinned Pinays.  This is safe for work color, gives off a "conservative, good girl" look.

Next is Pink Flame

Pink Flame is a very flattering shade of pink-brown, makes one look young and brightens the face, which again will flatter morenas and fair-skinned gals alike.  Gives off a youthful fun vibe especially for summer, but would still look demure.

- Does not cause allergies, lip darkening (at least for me).
- Very affordable.
- Can be purchased at any leading department store.
- Most shades suit Filipina skin, morenas or for fair skinned gals.
- Good color payoff and good pigmentation.
- No offensive smell, though at first use there is a hint of a waxy scent, but overtime it fades.
- Staying power is quite long, unless of course you eat or drink, but even then, it leaves a slight tint to your lips.
- This brand got tons of amazing colors for you to choose from.

- As with some matte lipsticks, it can be a bit drying.  You may opt to use a lip balm (but I find that that defeats the purpose of using a matte lipstick).
-xxxx wala na ako maisip

I am a hoarder, so with the affordable price and good quality I will definitely buy other shades, may be a nude one or something corally.  I want to kick myself for discovering this only now, but as they say it's never too late, right?  Let me know if you have tried these and which ones are your favorites so that I could try them out as well.

Until then DIVAS, stay pretty and happy, mwuah!

Sophie Martin Nudes

I finally received my order of lipsticks from Sophie Martin after a long time. I ordered mostly nude lipsticks, something you can use at work or school or even doing errands, something that doesn't scream "Look at Me", just a sweet/dainty girly look.

I got Velvet Nude, Caramel Sugar and Mango Peach.  These are inexpensive at 79 pesos each, ordered through a Sophie Martin dealer.

Let's start with Velvet Nude.  I did a review of this before, but for swatch comparison, I will still include it here.

Velvet nude is a light brown-reddish shade.

Next is Caramel Sugar -

From its name, it sounds sweet right?

Caramel sugar is pale pink in color, and is the lightest amongst the three nudes.

Lastly, Mango Peach -

Mango Peach is peachy-corally in color.

All three, side by side.  I hope you can see the different shades, but I guess they all look the same in this lighting, sorry.  From L to R - Velvet Nude, Caramel Sugar, Mango Peach.

No flash, again L to R Velvet Nude, Caramel Sugar and Mango Peach

With flash Velvet Nude has hints of red, Caramel Sugar is the lightest and pinky while Mango Peach is corally.

- inexpensive at 79 pesos each, good for those who are on a budget
- safe for work/school colors, great for everyday wear
- stays on for 3 hours at most
- will flatter most skin tones

- there is this cloying chocolatey smell that annoys me
- you have to order from a dealer
- it settles in the fine lines of the lips so you have to moisturize and scrub lips first
- drying
- you have to swipe at least 3 times for the color to show

If I were to pick out of all the three shades, I like Mango Peach the most because it brightens the face.  I say this coral shade is perfect for summer, BUT again I hate the scent.  I feel dizzy with it, which is kind of off putting.  The shades are great because it can flatter most skin tones and good for those who are starting out with make ups, that is if you don't mind the scent.  Will I buy again?  Sorry, but no.
