My Secret to Baby Soft Lips

Smith’s Rosebud Salve
This cult favorite, multi purpose lip balm soothes dry lips, calms and heals irritation, and soothes the sting of minor burns.

I purchased this about a year ago because I have read good reviews about it.  In fact it has become a cult favorite.  I often suffer from chapped lips, and I have used Vaseline for a long time, but I find that greasy.  I also tried Chapstick, but I always lose the tube due to carelessness.

Big enough tin, fits my hand well.  Costs 400+ pesos, forgot which site I bought it.

I love the vintage-y classic feel of the tin.  On the downside though, I find it unsanitary to dip my finger whenever I feel like putting it on.  What I do is, I always make sure to wash my hands and then apply alcohol on my hands just to make it more hygienic.  It can be a hassle sometimes especially if you are in a hurry.

Appears reddish/coralish in the tin, but it gives off no color once applied, making it a perfect base for lipsticks.

At first though, I did not like the rose-y scent to it, but it kind of grows on you.  The scent is not that strong, just a mild one.  There is no taste to it, so I find that a plus.  The texture is not waxy.  It is easy to apply.  I just dip my finger then tap on my lips.  It heals my dry, chapped lips much faster than Vaseline or Chapstick.  My lips are addicted to it.  It gives instant relief and leaves the lips super smooth and soft.  You can apply this as a base before putting lipstick on as it gives a clear finish.  You can skip the lip-gloss if you like.  Whenever I put this on, my mom and Jellybelly thinks that I have lipstick on.  One tin lasts forever.  I have this for a year now and there is still a lot of product left.  I just love, love this.

Baby soft lips, an invitation for endless kisses ;)

Favorite TV Series

Now that I am spending most of my days at home, I get to watch TV a lot, well not a lot haha.  Here are some of my favorite TV series.

Pretty Little Liars – Story of four girls Aria Montgomery, Hanna Marin, Spencer Hastings and Emily Fields.  It revolves around the death of their Queen Bee, Alison DiLaurentis.  The four girls began receiving mysterious texts from “A”.  “A” is a mysterious figure who knows all their secrets.  A whodunit type of plot.  I like their individual styles.  You could really tell them apart based on their fashion sense.

New Girl – Jessica “Jess” Day is a teacher who believes and sees all the goodness in a person.  She is so na├»ve.  After she discovered that her boyfriend cheated on her, she moved in an apartment with three men, Nick, Schmidt and Winston.  Her best friend is Cece who is a fashion model.  I love watching this because of Schmidt, he’s so funny trying to be cool.

Two Broke Girls – This is about two girls, Max and Caroline.  Max comes from a poor dysfunctional family while Caroline was born rich, but became penniless when his dad embezzled money.  They work as waitresses at Williamsburg Diner owned by their Asian boss Han.  Their co-workers include Earl, a former jazz musician and Oleg a Ukranian cook who is sleazy but funny and he has a girlfriend, Sophie, a Polish lady who lends Max and Caroline money for their business.  Max and Caroline started a cupcake business and at the end of the show there is a tally of how much they made or how much they lost.  I just love their witty lines.

Once Upon a Time – They gave a cool twist to fairy tales.  They have interconnected all the stories about Snow White, Rumpelstiltskin, Pinocchio, Beauty and the Beast, etc.  They were transported in the present at Storybrooke, Maine and their Sheriff who is the daughter of Snow White and Prince Charming broke off the curse from the Evil Witch.

The Carrie Diaries – A prequel to Sex and the City.  Before the sex, before the city, there was Carrie.  This is about 16-year-old Carrie Bradshaw, set in the 80s.  If you loved Sex and the City, I guess you will also like this one.

Here Comes Honey Boo Boo – This one is for laughs.  I had my Jellybelly download this for me.  It is about the real life of kid and her family who loves joining beauty pageants.  She is smart aleck, red-neck kid.  They are crazy, haha.

These are just some of my favorites.  Too bad Gossip Girl already ended.  I noticed that I love girly girl shows.  I watch this together with my Jellybelly (he also has his own favorite shows).  Makes watching more fun.  I don’t get to sit in front of the TV too much, I also do other things at home, so please don’t judge.  What’s your favorite TV series?

How to Make a Homemade Lightening Mask

I had a bad case of acne breakout late 2012 and I am now left with scars.  I have tried applying creams, but it just made me break out even more besides, I don’t like the greasy feel they leave.  So, I am sharing this home made lightening mask, which is inexpensive and a natural way to help fade out scars and even out the skin.

The Brush Off

Dry brushing.  Say What?

One of my goals for this year is to have time for myself and to listen to what my body tells me.  That includes caring for my skin.

Dry brushing stimulates blood circulation and lymphatic system, which can help the body get rid of toxins.  The benefit of dry brushing is having healthy smooth skin.  It can remove dead skin cells and promote skin growth.

My Happiness Pill

If it makes you happy do it, if it doesn’t then don’t.

Appreciate those who love you, help those who need you, forgive those who hurt you and forget those who leave you.

Life has knocked me down a few times.  It showed me things I never wanted to see.  I experienced many sadness and failures, but one thing is for sure, I always get up.

You shouldn’t give up.  Fight for yourself and who you are.  You’ve got to go through the worst times in life to get the best.

The only people worthy to be in your life are the ones that help you through hard times, and laugh with you after the hard times pass.

Be thankful of what you have, because you never know what will happen next.

Life is very short to argue and fight.  Count your blessings, value your love ones and move on with your head held high and a smile for everyone.

My life isn’t perfect, but I’m thankful for everything I have.

My life isn’t perfect, but it does have perfect moments.

Products that Cleared My Acne

Disclaimer:  “What works for me might not work for you.”

Growing up, I had clear skin except when it’s that time of the month.  I would occasionally get one or two nasty zits.  Nothing alarming.  BUT, I suffered adult acne (I’m 30ish).  I never had this flare up so bad.  I hated it.  I felt so unpretty.  Self‑confidence took a nosedive.  There was even a time I hated looking at the mirror.  It does not help that my hormones went haywire after an operation and radiation treatment, that including stress made my acne even worse.  I have tried almost all products geared for acne.  I even went to dermatologists and tried every creams, toners, facials and what have yous.  Nothing worked.

Sushi and Sashimi

I went through some of my old files and saw these photos.  It's basically my Jellybelly making sushi.  Yes, homemade sushi, yumminess and goodness to the 1,000,000th degree.  Yummy because it was made with love and all that jazz, cheesy!

What you will need:  Uni (sea urchin), crab sticks (forgot the brand), ebiko (roe), cucumber (optional), japanese rice (not in the picture), nori (seaweed wrap), bamboo mat, Kikkoman soy sauce and lemons or calamansi (for dipping), wasabi (ansaveh? not in the pic), diamonds and glitter (chos!).

Rice and everything placed in a sushi maker, idiot's guide 101.

And this ladies and gentlemen is how we roll.  Wasabi on the side, woot woot.

Tadah! No, Jellybelly did not make this one, just an old photo from one of the Japanese restos we've been to.
This is a bad idea.  I am typing this on a Friday night, while I am fasting (for Lent, I am giving up my dinner for one day a week, so help me!).

Of Windmills, Light House, Beach and Empanadas

Those are the four things that best describes Pagudpud.  You could also add the gruelling 12-hour ride, ugh my aching back and behind!  Not good for a 30ish-something diva.
